Gevallestudie: Harrowweg / Case Study: Harrow Road

Die Stad Johannesburg Metropolitaanse Munisipaliteit het die M31 Harrowweg hernoem na Joe Slovorylaan. Die afrit borde op beide die M1 en M2 is gruwelik verander (soos net die Johannesburgse Padagentskap (JRA) kan*).

The City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality changed the name of M31 Harrow Road to Joe Slovo Drive. The exit signs on both the M1 and M2 was grossly changed (like only the Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) can*).

Discussion on the fonts used (English)














Usually when a name is changed the roads agency will print the new name and paste it over the old name on the old sign. It is usually replaced with a sticker type or a pop-rivet type replacement segment. - This will be discussed further in the Johannesburg (ORT) Airport Case Study. As usual there is no surprises with the JRA as they used some kind of paste-method that looks horrible. This is highlighted with flash photography. (Click on the Left)

* Oor die agelope paar maande het vir aan die lig gekom dat die JRA (Johannesburgse Padagentskap) nalatige werk doen met die vervaardiging van padtekens. Dit sal in detail in 'n opkomende Gevallestudie bespreek word.
* English: Over the past few months it has come to my attention that the JRA (Johannesburg Roads Agency) does a terrbile job at the design and manufacturing of roadsigns. This will be discussed in a future Case Study.
***Met die derde naamsverangering van die Internationale Lughwe in Kempton Park aan die Oosrand, het interesante kwessies en foutiewe veranderinge opgespring. Dit word nog gedokumenteer en sal binnekort op wees.
